Position: LS Inquiry Support Expert
Purpose
Merck Life Science Quality Services ensures customer satisfaction through information support and problem resolution. The advertised position is situated in the Knowledge & Data Management Team of Life Science Quality Services.
The team is supporting LS Quality Services and internal partners with a range of services in the areas of data analytics and metrics generation, systems support and information management. For example, the team is responsible for the Customer Complaint Reporting for global Life Science.
To provide these services we closely collaborate with various business functions to understand their needs and processes. We also collaborate with BT to further digitalize information processes - be it dashboards for metrics or BI solutions for data management.
The key responsibilities of this role will lie in metrics generation (e.g. creating regular reports) and in on demand data analysis (e.g. conducting deep dives into complaint metrics to provide further insights to Business). In this context, the applicant will work with Quality Services colleagues and interface partners to understand their reporting requirements and the underlying processes. In addition, the applicant will also liaise with BT with the purpose of making more data available for reporting and / or automate reporting processes.
The applicant will be integrated into a supportive global team of reporting, systems and process experts.
We are looking for a person who is experienced in working with data and metrics and who understands their importance for management, problem resolution and decision making. We are looking for a person who has the desire to understand the meaning of the data they are working with as well as the processes behind the data. Furthermore, we are looking for a person with a strong interest in IT topics, who is comfortable to work with systems and databases (e.g. SAP, Trackwise, SFDC) and to liaise with the BT department to collaboratively make data processes smarter and more digital.

Essential Job Functions
- Build reports and provide metrics (e.g. in Excel and BI systems) based on complex data sets from multiple source systems.
- Learn and understand our partners' business processes for which our team is providing reports.
- Conduct on demand data-analysis for Quality Services and Business Partners.
- Be a key go-to person for specific metrics, data sets and source systems and provide advice and support to departmental colleagues and interface partners.
- Analyze data-management processes and make recommendations for improvements - especially automations.
- Work with interface partners and BT to further improve data-availability (e.g. from ERP systems) and expand the teams' reporting services
- Together with the BT department drive IT projects as the business representative and implement the recommended IT solutions (lead discussions with BT, testing, following up on requests.
- Effectively participate as an integral team member of the Knowledge & Data Management Team, as well as the larger Quality Services department. Demonstrate ability to work remotely (remote from leadership/ team) and leverage all vehicles of communication
Basic Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge at least on Bachelor's Degree Level in Business or IT (or a natural science background with significant and proven data analytics and systems skills)
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills, in particular Excel (VBA programming desirable).
- Extended experience in working with SAP
- Previous experience with Salesforce.com or Trackwise as well as Business Analytics Tools / BI tools is helpful or needs to be quickly and proactively acquired on the job.
- Prior exposure to Customer Relations Management and/or Quality Management Processes particularly in the Life Science or Consumer Health business is desirable.
- Profound English language skills including the technical terminology (Level B2)
